Adhesive Profiles

Many plastic extrusions can be supplied with self-adhesive tape pre-applied, providing a simple, clean and efficient installation solution.

By applying high-performance double-sided tape during the manufacturing process, profiles can be installed quickly on site with no need for drilling, screwing or separate adhesives. Simply remove the liner and position the profile in place.

Rigid PVC is particularly well suited to adhesive fixing, allowing strong and durable bonds to be achieved on a wide range of surfaces. The most appropriate tape will depend on the intended application and the substrate to which the profile will be fixed, and our team can advise on the best option for your project.

Benefits of Adhesive Profiles

  • Provides a neat, professional finish without visible fixings.
  • Offers strong initial grab with full bond strength typically achieved after curing.
  • Reduces installation time compared with mechanical fixing methods.
  • Cleaner and less cumbersome than cartridge-based adhesives.
  • Ideal for time-sensitive applications such as retail fit-outs, exhibitions and displays.
  • Can help reduce labour costs during installation.

How Adhesive Tape Is Applied

There are generally two methods of applying tape to plastic extrusions, depending on the profile design and application requirements.

For certain profiles, particularly flat sections, tape can be applied inline during the extrusion process. This is often the most cost-effective solution as it eliminates the need for a separate finishing operation.

For more complex profiles or where multiple tape strips are required, adhesive can be applied as a secondary operation after manufacture. This approach provides greater flexibility and allows us to accommodate a wider range of profile designs.

Choosing the Right Tape

The performance of an adhesive profile depends not only on the tape itself, but also on the surface it is being bonded to. Different tapes are available to suit materials such as glass, metal, painted surfaces, plastics and composite materials.

If you’re unsure which tape is best suited to your application, our team can help identify the most appropriate solution based on your profile design, installation environment and performance requirements.
